about

Paint the Stars Tonight is a series of improvisations for electric guitar, featuring use of delay (echo) and reverb effects similar to how Brian Eno and Robert Fripp began experimenting with tape loops when creating the technology referred to as "Frippertronics." While the systems of delay, reverb, and loops I created and explored here are not "true" Frippertronics, the music included in this album is wholly inspired by these sonic concepts.

The performances featured here are largely unedited, as I wanted to preserve the integrity of the improvisations. You may notice that "Blue and Green (For Kayleigh)" has two guitar tracks, however. For this piece, I combined two similar performances recorded some days apart, originally intending to edit them together into one seamless track. When listening back to the two performances played simultaneously, I discovered curious interplay between the two performances, as if they were having a conversation.

In listening to this music, I hope you find time to reflect, relax, breathe, and reach a place of calm.
